Long time ago, Hai duong province had a big fair whenever it opened people from around provinces dragged to and made the place become a loudly crowd.
Lived nearly the fair a drinker who worked as a thief. He was great in steal whatever he liked though it belonged to anyone he could find his way to get the thing.
One day, while he was wandering around and saw a guest who had a heavy luggage go in the restaurant. The trader just set his foot on the restaurant owner had warned.
“There are many thiefs around here so our restaurant has big coffers for guests to lock their luggage in it then you can sit or lie on it if you want. Let me give a hand, give me your luggage please.”, said the owner.
“You think I can not take care of my luggage. Thank for your kindness but I don’t want to bother you.”, said the guest then he opened his luggage mounted his money then put his head on the luggage and had a fast sleep. The thief had followed the guest saw it and decided to steal the luggage. He waited until midnight when the guest fell in to deep sleep the thief sneaked into the guest’s room then lied under guest’s bed. He moewed as a cat then he made a sound as a cat was chasing a mouse. Then he scratched on the bed where the guest was lying the scatched on the guest’s leg. The guest was awakened he shrinked his leg to shot the cat and cursed the cat. The thief pretended as if a cat ra away. The theif waited the guest fell in sleep again then he sneaked into again and scratched on the guest’s foot as the before time. The guest was made angry he sat up and waited to catch the cat. Therefore, the thief could take the luggage away easily. The guest waited a while and didn’t see the cat come back he lied again but as set his head down the bed he realized that his luggage had gone. He immediately woke up the owner and complained. The owner lighted oil-lamps.
“I had warned you but you also had ignored it”, said the owner.
“I have to give him a compliment but I will regain my luggage.”, said the guest.
Then he went outside climed up to top of a tree and observed. He heard where spread noise of bark then he climbed down and followed the noise. He wanderd aroud the market and came to a house which was light. He thought that was the thief’s house so he neaked saw through a hole on the door and saw the thief was showed off the luggage with his wife. When they were enioying seeing silver bars the guest made a laughter.
“Who ?”, sài the thief
“I hear you have getten a bargain so I come to get sharing, brother.”, said the guest.
“You dare to joke me, guy”, said the thief then asked his wife to hid the luggage, grabbed a rod and chased the guest. The guest ran away and hid hismself in a bush. The thief thought that the guest had been away from him so he continued chasing. When the theif ran away the guest went out and came to the house tied the wife then broke the coffer which stored his luggage. Then he followed the other way to come the restaurant.
The next morning, when the guest was combing the thief brought to a gift to apologize. He said: “I had done this job for ten years and I thought that none can better than me but now I know that have people who better. So I have the gift and hope you let me to be your disciple”, said the thief.
“I had done the job as you when i was a child but I gave up. Because you stole my luggage I had to use the skill to teach you. The job doesn’t have a good result you shouldn’t study. Now, enemies was at border of our country you should participate with me in army to fight again them.”, said the guest.
The thief seemed to awak after a long deep sleep. Then he followed the guest to do what he should do.
